Dancer

11/3/24 Hello everyone! I am Dancer. My sister Cupid and I were born on Christmas Day 2020! Thus, our festive names! I’m a little on the timid side. Loud noises and fast movement still scare me a little. It took me a few tries to get through doorways because thresholds were really scary!! But I’m obviously a brave little trooper at heart, because every once in a while, I start to act like a dog and follow my foster pack brothers and run after the bunnies, squirrels and birds in the back yard and the thresholds don’t bother me any more (unless it is a new doorway). I also do not mind that funny loud thing that sucks up all the dog fur from the hardwood floors. I don’t like it, but I don’t run from it either.

My mom tells me I seem to be “potty trained” as I have had no accidents inside the house. However, I still don’t “ask” to go outside. I just follow my foster brothers and go out and do my business when they do. I also feel A LOT better if there is a human outside with me, even if it’s raining or really cold, otherwise I sometimes want to come inside before I do anything. I crate at night and sleep through the night. I like to go in my open crate and just hang out throughout the day. I was a little vocal when crated when no humans were home, but since I do my business outside and have never chewed anything, now I just hang out with my foster brothers contained to the family room when the humans are away.

I was a really really brave girl this last week and visited some really friendly people who seemed to LOVE me and all the other animals around (vet). They gave me some sleepy drugs and I woke up later with a little scar and some soreness (spayed) but they all cooed about how much of a good girl I was the entire time I was there! I get to wear an incredibly cute onesie (My foster mom made me say it’s cute. I wear it but I’m not super happy about it)

My foster mom says we are going to start going on walks as soon as I heal up a little more. I seem to really like my foster brothers as they are kind of showing me the ropes of this ‘house’ thing. I still have not tried the soft things that my brothers always are sleeping on (couches and beds). I will occasionally cuddle into the dog beds on the ground, but I am not yet a snuggler. I will beg for attention, but I have not yet settled down right next to my humans. I still prefer to get attention and then go back to the crate or a sunny spot in front of a window.

Anyway, I’m going to keep learning about this cushy position called ‘house dog’ while the L.E.A.R.N. people and my foster mom look for my forever family.
