Update: 9/29: Now that I'm more relaxed in my foster home, I've become quite playful. In fact, I've even tried to play with canine foster brother, but he is not at all interested. Inside, I entertain myself . . . and any observers . . . playing with stuffed toys: tossing them in the air, shaking them and rolling on them; or chewing on a nylabone. I make my foster family laugh. I go for 2 walks/day (I'm up for jogging if you're into that.) and play ball or just run around the yard checking out scents a couple times/day. I tell my foster family when I need to go out. I have had no accidents, and I don't mark my territory inside. :-) I love to be with my humans when they are home, but I'm fine alone when they are gone. I'm very much looking forward to getting settled in my forever home.
Hi! My name is Jaxson, and everyone I meet comments on what a handsome guy I am. My family surrendered me to LEARN because I wasn't comfortable with their toddler cornering me or bothering me when I wanted to chill. One time she pulled my tail really hard. My family loved me, and they decided it would be better for me if I didn't have to deal with that. I'm a very friendly guy . . I love greeting the people I see on walks. When I get excited, I wiggle my butt so much I practically lose my balance. I'm very well-trained, very well-behaved, love to cuddle and settle very nicely in the house. I ride very well in the car . . you don't even know I'm there. Playing ball is my favorite activity, and I'm an excellent retriever. I drop it gently at your feet or in your hand. I'm very sweet, too! I've already given my foster family several little kisses. I'm use to having free roam of the house and am very good in the house. However, I'm pretty stressed out after losing my home. So, for now, I've decided a crate is my safe spot. I'm looking for a forever family who will play ball with me, take me on walks (I walk pretty well on a leash) and most importantly give me the time and space to get my bearings back. I lived with another dog, and we got along very well. My last family took me to dog parks a long time ago, and I did fine there. However, I'm pretty wary of the dogs in my foster home, even though they are senior and very nice . . . probably because I'm pretty stressed out right now. So the transition to my forever home would be a lot easier for me if there isn't already another dog there. I'm curious about cats, sniff them but don't get excited or agitated, but I haven't been around cats for any length of time or without supervision. I'm fine with respectful children and do very well in controlled situations. I love watching them and greeting them on walks. I lived ... and slept and cuddled ... with a 14 year old. Older, respectful children or no children would probably be best. If you're looking for a real lovable kind of guy who just needs some time to get his bearings back, please ask LEARN about meeting me. Thanks. :-)
