Diva is from the Stop the Madness group – Operation Sunday Labs ~ Diva is a 1 year old female. If spooked she will try to run and back out of the harness.....but less and less is spooking her these days!
~~~~~~~~ 12/1/14 Time for the three week update. You would never believe that she had not been in a house before. She has taken to the couch and big chair as all hers. I was sick this weekend, and she didn't leave my side. Cuddled right in. She is getting better with taking treats, but we still don't want her to go to a home with small children.. . still very food-motivated and sometimes mistakes your finger for a tasty morsel.
She has instigated two walks in the neighborhood as I didn't want to push anything. Moving cars make her nervous, but other than that she is a good walker on a harness.
Sorry it has taken a few days to get this update out to the group, but I want everyone to know our little Diva a/k/a Midnight is doing well. She became our little Diva Sunday after we stopped a few times to give her a bathroom break, and after refusing to go she walked into the house, demanded a treat and pottied on the living room rug. Our little “Diva”. Diva is getting along with Dodger who we affectionately call Grandpa now. Grandpa has told her in no uncertain terms that he is not to be crawled on or bothered when sleeping! Diva is very food motivated, and she knows where her food bag is stored in the garage and will not leave that spot when it is time to out to go to the bathroom. Being food-motivated will help with training – and she will need training. She is a jumper and counter surfer. Found my cutting board on the floor twice. She has explored the house and is settling in quite well. It amazed me the other day that she had no idea what to do with a ball – she watched as I rolled it by her with interest. It was not until I bounced it that she followed it and bounced along with it. Took a while to fit it in her mouth, and I would say within 15 min she was playing fetch with Jim. She is starting to really love attention. Last night she crawled into my lap to be petted – then stood on my chest to get closer to my face. (We decided that this week will be about affection and trust – next week we will learn some manners) She does NOT like to go for walks or be on a leash. I did run out and get her a harness which makes going outside for bathroom breaks a bit easier. She has taken to her crate without a problem. Diva is to be spayed this Friday.
