Hi all! Bert here. I am a handsome 3 year old yellow Lab. I'm a short compact guy, solid at about 70 lbs. I was a owner surrender. My owner says I love walks (my foster Mom can attest to this). She also said I visited dog parks and was fine, but my foster Mom hasn't taken me to a Dog Park yet though, to double check.
I get along with the 2 small dogs in my foster home. I have met a dog or 2 at the park were Mom goes to walk, and I have been fine. My foster home has no cats, but my previous owner indicated I was fine. I get along fine with the 2 teenage boys 16 & 19 in my foster home. I ride well in a car and actually like it.
At night I sleep in a crate in my foster family's bedroom. I am crated when my family leaves for long periods. I do bark initially. Eventually, with time, I will be trusted to be out of the crate. I am left out when they are gone for short trips and have been good. I know basic commands, along with "give paw." I have a BIG deep bark, but I only bark to let you know someone is here or initially when crated. I am not a clingy Labbie (Oh Mom's had them she says). I can jump perfectly into a hatchback-with no help. I am house-trained . . . not one accident. :-)
I like toys, but I can take them or leave them. I'm not much of a fetcher, but I entertain my foster mom at night picking through the toys and playing with them on the floor. Mom says on the activity scale I'm probably a 6. I wait for people to come in the door and wait when people leave - I am NOT a dasher. We've had some thunderstorms, and they don't seem to bother me.
