2/12/25 Hi, friends. It’s Pound here, checking in with an update. I’ve been laying low and not feeling my best lately, but my foster family is taking good care of me while I heal.

The vet found out a lot about what’s been going on with me. I’ve been diagnosed with spondylosis, which means my spine is developing extra bone growth that can make moving around stiff and painful. On top of that, I have hookworms again, pneumonia, thickening of my esophagus, arthritis in my elbows, and a parasite that has a really complicated name. We are also keeping an eye on my kidney function. Oh, and as if that isn’t enough, I’m also going through a false pregnancy. My body sure is keeping everyone on their toes!

Even with all of this, I’m still keeping my appetite (because, priorities) and soaking up all the soft couch time and warm blankets while I rest. I’m on multiple antibiotics now, responding well to my arthritis medication, and getting treated for those pesky hookworms again. It’s a lot, but I’m a fighter.

Through it all, I still love my foster dad the most—I stick to him like glue.

For now, I’m just taking things one cozy nap at a time. Thank you all for your love and support—it means so much to this recovering girl!

Hi friends, it’s Pound checking in! I’ve been keeping busy and learning so much with my foster family. Guess what? I’m learning to sit like a pro! We’re also working on ways for me to tell my foster parents when I need to go outside – I’m getting the hang of it, slowly but surely.

I’ve picked up some new nicknames, too: “Sniff Sniff” and “It’s Okay.” I love to sniff – new smells are my favorite – but loud noises and sudden movements still startle me, and I pancake flat on the ground. My foster family is so gentle, though, and they remind me that I’m safe here.

We’ve got another vet visit coming up to tackle my stubborn UTI, and I keep hearing about someone named Santa Paws. I wonder what’s on my Christmas list?

Hi, everyone, it’s Pound here. I'm eleven and a half and one of the 22 breeder releases.

I wanted to share a little bit about how I’m doing with my foster family. Life is so different now compared to when I first arrived. Back then, I was scared and unsure, but these kind humans have been so patient with me. They tell me I’m doing great – and I think I am, too!

Right now, we’re waiting on the results of a test to figure out what’s next for my stubborn UTI. I have another check-up next week for shots and to make sure those pesky worms are really gone. I surprised my foster parents by going into heat the morning after I came home, which put my adoption on hold for now. My no more puppy surgery is planned for a few months out yet. At my first vet visit, the doctors found some nodules in my breast tissue. They’re worried they might be cancer, but we won’t know for a few months. For now, I’m focusing on getting better and enjoying my new life.

I’m still skittish with sudden movements, loud noises, and certain hand gestures – I’ve been through a lot – but I’m learning to trust again. I don’t mind car rides and have been sleeping a lot to heal. My foster family is teaching me to let them know when I need to go outside and helping me get used to the crate. Going up stairs is easy now, but going down? Still working on that.

I’ve really taken to foster Dad– when he’s home, I stick to him like glue. I’m his shadow, and being near him makes me feel safe. I’ve even made friends with a little human who visited. I was on my best behavior and didn’t steal any snacks from the high chair, though it sure was tempting!

Sniffing is my favorite thing – new smells make me so happy. I’m curious and starting to feel more confident when I’m comfortable. I’m also very food motivated, which sometimes gets me into trouble. I like to see just how close I can get to something before being reminded it’s not for puppies!
