UPDATE 8/16/21: Would you like to hear some exciting news? I can start meeting potential adopters to find my forever family! At the end of last week, x-rays showed that my leg is healing nicely, and I do not need surgery! Woo hoo! But, I do still need to have a "soft wrap" on my leg for one more week, then I'll need two more weeks of crate confinement and no jumping, running, or playing. But after that, I'll be ready to be a full-fledged puppy again! My foster momma is so impressed with how good I continue to be about all the crate time. (Hey, a frozen Kong stuffed with peanut butter works for me!)

When we are outside for potty breaks, I'm on a leash, and I'm learning to walk alongside nicely, but those squirrels and birdies are soooo fascinating to me, and I get a bit distracted. However, my recall is GREAT, and when I hear my name "Joey," I forget all about those distractions and come back very quickly to my foster momma's side and get lots of praise. I've mastered how to "sit" on command even with my one leg all wrapped up, as you can see in one of my photos. I am pretty stinkin' cute, if I do say so myself. I would LOVE to be part of a family that includes another dog for me to play with and hang out with, as I am really enjoying being with my two foster Labbie siblings. I would also LOVE to be part of an active family who will commit to going to "school" with me because I want to put my smarts to work and learn lots of cool stuff. My foster momma says I'll be the star of the class! I'm an extra-special little fellow, looking for an extra-special family to call all my own. Could that be you??? Love, Joey

****** ON HOLD *****  Hi everyone! My name is JOEY, and I am a happy, smart, good-natured 17-week old pup-pup. My foster mom calls me "My Pal Joey," and I sure love being everyone's pal. I've only been in my foster home for about a week, so they are still getting to know me, and I can't wait to show them all about my adorable self once my rear leg is all fixed up and good to go! My former family had to surrender me because they couldn't take good care of me, especially after my leg was broken. But I am safe now and love everyone in my foster family. I can't wait until I get the "all clear" to play with my three foster Lab siblings. For now, they watch over me. The vets and orthopedic specialist say that I'll need another 3-4 weeks wearing a splint with splint and bandage changes every week. And then they say I need to be neutered, whatever that means. My foster mom is so impressed with what a good sport I am, spending my days and nights in the crate. But my foster mom says I'll have lots and lots of play days ahead very soon! I'll keep you updated on my progress, so stay tuned. Lots of love and puppy kisses, Your Pal Joey
