12/30/2020, We are happy to start taking applications for approved families interested in meeting Brandy.  (We know it will take a special family to overlook her medical condition so we want to start early.)

12/27/2020**Brandy received good news at her exam with the cardiologist. She was diagnosed with mild sub aortic stenosis. This is likely congenital and usually does not change severity after age 1. Since she is around 10 months old, they don't feel it will progress any further. She can live a full life with no restriction or intervention. They graded her heart murmur as a 3. She needs a follow up in 6 months to ensure that the stenosis does not progress. She is currently in season, and is scheduled to be spayed on January 18th. She has settled in very nicely. She loves to follow her foster mom and she loves attention. She has been very obedient and easy to correct. She still needs leash work and formal obedience training. She is food motivated, so training should be easy.

12/15/2020**Brandy has made big strides in a week's time. She went from a dog that would not come out of a crate to a dog who does not want to go in. She does not do well in a crate. She has been loose in the house and no accidents to date. She is still puppy, so I have to watch what she chooses to chew, but good on that front as well. She now holds her tail high and her tail wags in a circle. She was so scared at first, her tail was plastered to her stomach. She does well with other dogs and should have at least one other dog to be with her. She wants to be in the mix of everything and will push herself between us and the other dogs for attention. She loves belly rubs. Brandy is a toy hoarder and will empty the toy box during the course of the day. Now that she has some confidence, we will start working on obedience and walking on a leash. She is being treated for anaplasmosis, which is a tick-borne infection. She will be on antibiotics for 30 days. During her heath exam it was discovered that she has a heart murmur and will be seeing a cardiologists on December 23rd. She is a very sweet girl and loves affection. She is calm in the house and entertains herself. She is loving a warm home, no more food insecurity and the attention of a family. Hopefully she will be ready for a family of her own once her health issues are addressed.

12/5/20 ON HOLD ~ Brandy came in to rescue today with 7 other dogs from a hoarding situation in Marathon County. These dogs will be in foster care longer than normal as we get them fully vetted, and work with them to overcome their fears, and learn to become dogs.

*** Since we know nothing about Brandy other than she will be here longer than usual, we will not be taking notes of interest for her until she is off hold and closer to being ready to start meeting families.  If you are not already approved to adopt you will want to apply to become approved so that you may be eligible to be considered when she is ready.
