6/22/19  Riley is such an incredibly different dog than when he first arrived! He has gained confidence and social skills with both dogs and humans. He is a pretty calm dog, doesn't require a ton of exercise.  He enjoys a nice game of fetch and chewing on toys, occasionally destroying one or two (but he has years of toy destroying to catch up on).  He likes getting brushed and his coat has grown in a beautiful deep, rich brown. He walks nicely on a leash.  Riley's absolute favorite thing is just to sit/lay by you and get some pets.  He just soaks up all the attention.  He will place his head on your lap or chest and just gaze into your eyes.

5/1/19 Riley has settled in nicely. He has figured out how to play with toys and play fetch. Tennis ball destroying has become a favorite hobby. Riley loves to romp through the fields. He is doing much better with men, but it is a slow road.  High value treats have paved the road.  He still has anxiety when his foster mom leaves and will try to sneak out if others return before her.  He will also counter surf given the opportunity. Riley is doing well with all the everyday noises and activities of living in a home.  He is cat friendly and would handle older children well.  (Super active, quick moving kids and activities would most likely be too much).  Riley is looking forward to having a family to call his own.

4/1/19 Riley is an almost 6 year old chocolate Lab, needs to be neutered (scheduled for April 8 and will be ready for his new home after) and is a gentle giant. Sweet and kind. Friendly and outgoing. Loves to be with his people. Especially fond of ladies, both human and canine. He likes to play with a tennis ball, small throws and retrieves. He came to LEARN from the same retiring backyard breeder as Andrew, Sienna, Faith and Bailey. His foster home is the FIRST home he has lived in. So far he is doing very well with all the changes, but noises startle him along with quick movements. His foster mom sees a future counter surfer as he continues to settle in. Men are intimidating, and he will bark at them but quiets when you tell him it's ok. Foster Dad has been unable to pet as of yet. Same with adult foster brother. Currently we are working on this but his only interaction with men hasn't been pleasant. Riley seems to have a little separation anxiety from his foster mom but can settle down. We are hoping this is short term as he becomes more comfortable in the house. An ideal future home would have a doggy companion, preferably female. Adults and older kids only. (The noise and movement of young kids would most likely be too much; sorry.)  Having someone who is home often or works shorter hours would be great.

Please consider adding Riley to your family, and watch him flourish!
