Hi Everyone! Just wanted to give a quick update. I am doing really well. I am still very shy and take a little time to let you pet me but I will eventually warm up and let you give me treats. I have discovered that I can climb any fence you put up. It can be 3 foot or 7 foot, I will go up and over. So I will need to be on a long lead for a long time, if not forever but I will play with other dogs and toys and provide you lots of love once I can trust. I know I am not a "normal" dog that will bound up to you or new people but with some time, patience and compassion I will become a family member and a part of your heart.
Stop the Madness: Peanut's Holiday of Hope
Update 3/2/17: Rocky is available for adoption! He was neutered on 2/22 so just a few more days of no running or jumping.
Rocky is looking for a family who will be patient and help him get over his fears. He's still afraid of most people and noises . . . especially outside noises. A fenced yard would be best for him. Working with a trainer who specializes in fearful dogs is a must.
Rocky has slowly made some progress over the last 2 months. He now likes to hang out with my husband and our 3 dogs. He will even take treats from me and make eye contact.
Check out this handsome boys pictures and video!
Update 2/5/17: Rocky is doing better. The ear infection and parasites are gone! :-) He is scheduled to be neutered on 2/22. We are working with a trainer who specializes in shy and fearful dogs. Rocky loves to retrieve the tennis ball and run around the back yard! He's very fast!!
12/21/16 This is Rocky! He's part of the Stop the Madness: Peanut's Holiday of Hope rescue. He is about 1 1/2 yrs. and only 54lbs right now, but we expect him to gain weight.
Rocky has been with us since December 18th. He has already made some progress. He's eating well and drinking a little more water than he was. For the first few days, we had to carry him in and out of the house, because he had never been in a house and seemed to be afraid of going through the door. Now we can coax him in and out using a leash. He's still afraid of most things including noises and people, because he's never been exposed to them before. However, he does like our other 3 dogs. :-) Right now, his two safe places are the crate and dog bed, and that's where he spends his time.
Poor Rocky has anaplasma, Lyme disease, parasites and ear infections. He's being treated for all of them. He will be vaccinated and neutered in the next few weeks.
More updates to come!
