1/16/17 - Update - I'm available and off medical hold. Hello World; Faith here. I am a yellow female about 7 years old. My previous family surrendered me to a shelter due to their personal situation. I am so grateful LEARN sprung me from the shelter. You see, I am heartworm positive, and shelters don't treat heartworm positive dogs because of the cost. So you know what would have happened to me. . . I get chills just thinking of it! Anyway, I am now safe in a great foster home where I will get treatment for heartworm. I am very sociable around people and other dogs. I know some commands like sit, lie down, stay (sometimes) and come, and I walk fairly well with a harness which keeps me from pulling so much. My foster mom thinks I may have been a hunter at one time because of the way I walk on lead. . . I zig zag in and out. I do tend to chase after squirrels so my foster mom doesn't know how I would be around cats. My foster mom let me out the other night, and guess what? I got skunked. Just had a bath the day before, too. I tend to counter surf. So you have to keep food off the counters; otherwise I will take care of it for you. I also chew a little, but nothing bad if I have dog items to chew on. I tend to drink a lot of water at one time. My foster mom limits my water so I don't drink so much because it makes me throw up. The Vet and all the Techs think I'm adorable . . . because I am! I'm on medical hold while I go through heartworm treatment, but as soon as I'm adoptable I'll be ready for my forever home. A big yard and kids would be perfect for me. Watch for updates as I progress. UPDATE Hi again...I've been with my foster mom for awhile and she keeps telling me that I'm the sweetest girl you could know. She said I could use a big fenced in yard to run in. I would prefer to be the only dog. I do tend to not like some dogs so being an only dog would be great. I'm ready for adoption but still need to be seen by a vet probably in March then again in two weeks after that to make sure I am heartworm free.
