Hi there, Dakota here.  I know, I know my name sounds like a boy's name, but I am really a petite yellow girl weighing in at 70 pounds.

I was an owner surrender to a kill shelter because my last human parent said I came from a lady who asked them to watch me until she found a home for me, but she never came back to pick me up.  They couldn't keep me because they had too many dogs.  That's O.K. because along came L.E.A.R.N. and saved me.

I'm 7 years old and very active for my age.  I love playing ball.  My foster mom was told I like water, but she has not had a chance to take me to a lake to find out.  I'm good in the house and crate-trained.  If the crate is up I go into the crate on my own to sleep.  I love car rides.  I need work on a leash because I like to pull.  My foster mom is helping me with that.  Oh, and did I mention that I love to play ball....really love to play ball...:-).

I would do best with a fenced yard and some professional training.  I'm not afraid of loud noises; so thunder and fireworks don't bother me. I love to give kisses; I'll give you a bath if you let me.  I get along great with other dogs.  My foster mom said she was told that I do get along with cats, but my foster mom doesn't have any cats to test me with.  I do like to counter surf...so if you have anything that's food-like on the counter and it's not out of reach I will help myself.   Also when I get excited I will bark into the air and click my teeth together.  My foster mom said I will bite my tongue one of these days doing that.  Also, I don't get on the furniture or beds.

If you're an active family, and you want someone to play, walk/run with and be your companion here I am. If you are interested in meeting/adopting Dakota you must first fill out an adoption application and have a home visit first.  – If you have already done these things then you can email L.E.A.R.N. and let them know you would like to be put on Dakota’s potential family list.
