Hi, I'm Boomer. I'm a young, maybe 2 years old (and I might add handsome) black Lab. I've had a pretty tough time of it the last couple of weeks. I got 'sprung from the big house, aka: Chicago Animal Care and Control, on April 20th and had to go right to the Vet to get neutered. The good thing was they gave me a bath; I was really stinky. My foster mom picked me up from the Vet on the 22nd. Then the mild kennel cough I had turned into pneumonia!! It was terrible. Just as I was getting used to the good life, I had to go back into the hospital. A guy can't catch a break! However, I'm much better now and adjusting to being a spoiled boy. When my foster parents first brought me into their home, I was a little freaked out. I mean....they have stairs.....hardwood stairs.....what were they thinking?! But I'm a brave boy and toughed it out, and now I'm cruisin' up and down like a champ. No one seems to know anything about me cuz I was a stray when they locked me up. But my foster mom thinks I was quite the ladies man before, well, you know what, because I just love the ladies. She says that will pass with time, but they are just so pretty that I can't help myself. I get along with my foster brothers pretty well . . after all they were also rescued from the big house, so we have a bond. I do like to be the alpha dog, but Aengus puts me in my place if I try anything. I know not to mess with him so I back off. Oh, and I DO NOT LIKE MY CRATE!!! I broke out of it twice. But luckily, I am perfectly housebroken, and other than doing a little exploring and moving things around that don't belong to me, I'm pretty much non-destructive on the house. I'm a bit of a momma's boy. I follow her around like shadow, unless my foster dad is home. I LOVE my foster dad. But he works a lot so mostly I follow my foster mom. We all went to the dog park. My foster mom was a little nervous because I don't have very good leash manners, but she said I was such a good sport and got along with all the dogs there! (I don't have a mean bone in my body so I don't know what she was nervous about.) A couple of the dogs were even kind of mean to me and growled, probably cuz I was just neutered and smelled funny to them, but I just backed off. I'm a lover not a fighter. I didn't even mind the El train going by. Now we go there every day. They have a doggy pool there, and at first I wasn't that interested in it but now I get right in and lay right down in the water. I have also discovered the Cuz toy. The humans at the park throw it and I get to run after it and bring it right back. It's called fetch and I'm a natural. It's fun, and we go there every day. Well, it was nice talking you. Have to go and chase a squirrel. :-)
