Lucy is a middle age lab (approximately 7-8 years old) who loves to be near people – especially if that means there is a free hand for petting. She came to LEARN as a stray to a shelter. Lucky for Lucy, there was a foster home available. She spent much of the first day getting acclimated to “regular life”. This included a long car ride, a bath and some good food. We noticed right away that Lucy was going to need to lose some weight. Imagine our shock when the vet said she needed to lose 15-20 pounds to become the svelt beautiful girl that she is on the inside. Well, we have been walking and playing and eating the correct amount of high quality dog food. As a result, she is down approximately 10 pounds and would be happy to continue to lose the rest.
Her past times include chasing the dog that retrieves the frisbee, chewing on bones and antlers, “killing” (de-stuffing) stuffed toys, and skinning tennis balls.
Some of Lucy’s wonderful qualities include: snorting when she is happy, walking well on a leash, snoring in her sleep, the typical “Lab Lean”, willingness to jump in the car at a moments notice, and being crate trained. She loves her crate and sleeps there every night. If the door is open, you can find her laying there chewing bones or just watching the world go by. She even goes in there on her own when you are eating or cooking dinner – yeah, we didn’t even have to train her for that.
