MEDICAL HOLD LIFTED 11/14/2024 - Available for adoption

Mooch (Eclipse) is the sweetest! Her medical hold has been released and she is ready to find her furever home.
Personal space is not a thing for her. If she can get closer, she will! She is good about moving over to her own space when asked…along with a little assist in getting there
Mooch is a treat girl so she is very trainable. Her sit is pretty reliable but we are now working on adding some distance along with the command.
The big win of the week was loading into the truck. Last week she had to be lifted into the truck as she was so fearful. This week, in and out like a champ! She also wasn’t a fan of riding in the truck but the one trip we made this week went well. We also tried loading into our car which meant starting over with the exposure since it was a different vehicle. She was comfortable with that after a few demos by her foster brother and a short period of training.
Mooch is crate trained and likes to spend time in there. She finds comfort in the crate and uses it as a safe space. She keeps a number of stuffed animals close by in the crate. Mooch sleeps in her kennel at night but there is a high likelihood she would be happy to sleep in bed with you. Every morning she goes straight from her kennel to the bed so she can snuggle with whomever is last to get up! If she was to stay in the kennel overnight, she needs to be able to see her people from the kennel or she cries.
She loves her stuffed animals. She regularly carries them around the house and presents them to us. If we throw them she chases after to bring them back for another round of fetch.
No accidents in the house!!! She still doesn’t have a clear sign as to when she wants to go out. She goes out on a regular basis and there haven’t been any issues.
We can’t convince her to go down the basement stairs, even when her foster brothers have shown her how to do it. That will be a project for next week.
Mooch’s other adventure for this week is a trip to Home Depot. We are hoping to make it inside but maybe won’t get past the parking lot. We will see what she is ready for and not push too hard with all the new adventures!

Medical HOLD 11/05/2024

Hello world! I'm Eclipse although my foster parents call me Mooch. I'm just over a year old. I quickly earned this name upon arrival when I helped my foster brothers with their lunch. They've clearly never had to scramble for every scrap of food. I'm happy I no longer have to live outside waiting for my turn to become a breeder dog. I do have to say I'm a little freaked out by the big world I'm now in, but I'm very brave and trying hard to embrace new experiences like truck rides, thresholds of doors, garages, and vinyl floors to name a few. Truck rides are getting a little better, I've mastered the front door, sliding glass patio and screen door, and just in the last two days channeled my inner Wonder Woman and checked out the garage. Not bad for only a week and a half in.

My foster parents have let me go at my own pace which works for me, eventually my curiosity wins out. Mom and dad take me out on a regular basis as I don't quite have a sign as to when I want to go out for a bathroom break. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to lounge on the couch and snuggle with the humans. I like to go for walks and do well on a leash but could use some work as I weave and am oblivious to my humans on the other end of the leash. My foster parents say I am a quick learner and am working on my obedience. I have a pretty good sit and am working on stand. I really like treats and am happy to work for food or praise.

I've had a couple vet visits and am in good health. I'm taking medicine for worms and was spayed yesterday. Once I am healed from my surgery and have a little more time to learn about being a dog, I'll be available for adoption. Hopefully in the next couple weeks!

I'm looking for a home where I am able to get some exercise, I am still a puppy after all. Walks are my best exercise option right now. Loud noises startle me so my walker has to have a good grip on my leash and be prepared in case I try to bolt away out of fear. I need someone committed to helping me grow and learn to be a dog through continued obedience training, exposure to new experiences, and a gentle, soft spoken positive reinforcement style. Finally, I need someone who will love to love me. I happily soak up all the attention I can get and am happiest when someone has their hand on me. I'm not a high energy dog and am pretty happy just hanging out on the couch with you!
