ADOPTION PENDING!

Hildy is an 8 month old, 45 pound yellow Lab mix. Probably mixed with Beagle or some type of Hound by her appearance, but she's very quiet and has only barked once since she arrived. She is super sweet and gets along very well with other dogs. She went to the dog park, and after she got used to the elevated train going by, she joined in for a LOT of fetching with the other dogs. We'll add more information as we get to know her better.

After a couple of weeks with us, Hildy has proven herself to be a very sweet and eager to please little girl. She just melts in your arms when you pet her. When we first started walking her on leash, she had no idea what she was supposed to do and would run from one side of the sidewalk to the next in front of you. After just a couple of days, she was walking beautifully on my left side, and now will NOT walk on my right side at all! She heals beautifully now, except of course when a squirrel, or heaven forbid a BALL, go by, then all bets are off.  She is very interested in other dogs on leash, but once she meets them she just asks for pets from their owners and wants to move on. She appears to be housebroken, but will find something interesting  to get into when we are not home, so we crate her. She doesn't really like the crate and we had to jury-rig the door with some clips so she doesn't try to escape, but I think once she gets a little older and more mature she will be fine left to free roam. She has a lot of energy and needs daily exercise to keep her happy, but she will chase and retrieve a ball all day if given the chance, so it's easy to tire her out.

Hildy loves every one she meets and absolutely loves kids, but she may be too  much for small children, due to her high energy.

Being an eight month old puppy, I knew she was going to go into heat soon, so I quickly set up an appointment to have her spayed, but unfortunately, a couple of days before the appointment.....oops.  It can be a little risky to spay a dog when they are in heat, so we have to wait for at least a month before she can have her surgery, so in the mean time, we will just continue to enjoy her while she is with us.
