Bear is on medical hold and currently in treatment for heartworm. LEARN would greatly appreciate any sponsorship for Bear's ongoing medical expenses.

UPDATE 8/9/16

Bear had his first injection for his heartworm yesterday and is very sore.  The treatment is very painful and requires a lot of rest.  He will get the second and third injections next month.  Bear's left eye needs surgery because his eyelashes turn into his eye, which is painful and hinders his sight.  We are trying to schedule that between the next HW injection and after he has healed from his first injection.  He has been through a lot but still is the biggest love bug and just wants to cuddle.  Sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.  Both procedures are expensive and will cost L.E.A.R.N. a couple thousand dollars.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Bear, and I'm between 4 and 5 years old.  I'm big and handsome and very cuddly. I love to lie next to you and get belly rubs.

I was picked up as a stray in Southern Illinois and brought to a shelter. One of the volunteers there contacted LEARN and asked them if they could help me because I have Heartworm and need expensive treatment. My foster mom thinks I was dumped because I would not go in the backyard without her for the first week as I didn't want to be by myself again.  I love people and just want to be with you.

Now, I'm living with 3 other dogs, and they are teaching me how to play which I'm really starting to like.  There are 2 cats here, and I bark at them.  So maybe it would be best if I didn't find a home that has cats. I'm housebroken, have basic obedience, and love car rides.

I'm what you call a good catch, but remember, I will be at my foster moms for several months due to my ongoing treatment for Heartworm.  See you in a few months.

Thanks,

Bear
