Lemon
Adopted!!!
Hi, my name is Lemon. I am 8 years old. I am pretty small, weighing only 50 pounds, but I am working hard on gaining weight. I came from a family the size of a baseball team and lived in a crate for 13 hrs a day with another dog. No one really cared for me much so I was starved for human companionship, food and affection. Nobody even took the time to get me regular vet check ups. My family finally gave me up to LEARN, the luckiest day of my life.
Now, I live with my foster mama, 8yr old female lab sibling, a cat and a bird. I love them all, but most of all I love human affection.
Foster mama calls me special diet needs, because I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and suffered from malnutrition, hot spots, horrible teeth and a damaged tail. Now don’t let that scare you away. L.E.A.R.N. and my doctors have been worked hard to fix these issues and we are almost done. My teeth are bright white now, my tail is fixed, my hotspots gone, and I gained some weight too. I am on special food that digests easily so I have good poopies. I have never messed in the house or my crate. When I have to go potty, I will sit by the door and bark if you don’t notice me. I am fully house trained and crate trained. I have the run of the house with my labby foster sister if foster mama is not home.
Most, if not all of my issues are because of my dismal past and how I was treated. I have been with my foster family now for 3 months and have learned not to jump on counters, because I will get fed. No barking when left alone, because foster mama will come back. No jumping on folks, because they will bend down to greet me. I sit before eating; I eat in my crate and sleep in my bed where I belong. I do not go on furniture, and I respect things that aren’t mine. I am very very strong on a leash and need some help learning how to walk like a lady. I love to go for car rides; I love to get groomed and love to run.
Because I was ignored during the best years of my life, I am ready to enjoy my senior years with a forever family that will love me to death. I have enormous energy and I have lots of good years ahead of me. My idea of playing? One on one with hugs. Foster mama says I’m as sweet as can be and she loves to get on the floor with me and give me hugs and kisses. I want affection and lots of it. I do great with kids, but frankly after the baseball team family, I don’t want the competition, been there, done that. I would do best in a fenced in yard, and a small family who is devoted to making me happy. I just can’t live in a crate all day anymore, I want to be free. My foster mama tells everyone “After 8 years of being ignored, Lemon deserves 8 years of a loving home”.
I want a forever family to smother me with love, attention, more love and more attention. Someone who will give me healthy food and treats, regular visits to the doctor, lots of exercise. I want to lay down on the floor with my human family and get smothered with love and belly rubs. I have waited 8 years for this. Please come visit me.
