My name is Lady. I am approximately a year old. Like all Lab puppies, I am full of energy and really want to play.
I got off to a rough start in life. I was found along the road starving to death and picked-up by some kind people who took me home. They took me to their vet, where it was discovered that I had heartworms. They started treatment, but things weren’t working out between me and their dog. We just couldn’t seem to get along, so I ended up in a shelter. A nice lady from LEARN came to meet me and here I am safe & sound in a foster home.
I am still undergoing treatment for heartworm, but can continue that in my permanent home. The main thing I need is to be kept on restricted activity. I am a typical Lab puppy – full of the devil. Right now I am living with 3 other Labs and 2 cats. Miraculously, we all peacefully coexist. I love to play and really don’t like this “restricted activity” business. I am housebroken and have learned to like my crate. I listen pretty well, but need to be reminded of the rules a LOT. Mom and I have had a battle of wills going since I arrived. She is actually more stubborn than me, but says I like to “push the envelope”, whatever that means. She also says that I am full of personality and really quite a character. You can’t help but love me!
I am looking for a forever family that will be firm, but patient with me. I learn quickly and want to please. I will still get into trouble at times, but I don’t try to be naughty. Mom is convinced that I am a “good girl waiting to happen”. She also feels confident I will be a very good girl once I am off the restriced activity. I need to run & play. I get along well with other dogs & cats. I am sometimes a little shy when meeting new men (or teenage boys), but I am steadily gaining confidence. Are you willing to work with me and help me to reach my full potential? I would really like to start the new year with my new family.
