Dewey
Adopted!!!
Hi! I’m Dewey, a 1 year old bla…… I’m back now, just had to go get that ball that my foster dad threw for me. I loooove playing fetch!! Where were we? I’m your typical 1 year old lab. I was found as a stray, so I can’t tell you much about what happened before then. A nice lady came to get me from a shelter down in southern Illinois before my time was up.
I already had good house manners when I got to my foster home. Things like only doing my business outside, not chewing on things that don’t belong to me, and knowing how to sit! My foster parents have been teaching me new things, too, like down and off. I get a little freaked out when I am in the crate, I think because I was in that shelter. But that’s ok because my foster parents can leave me out without me destroying things. Labbies like me love to learn new things, so I can’t wait to go to this place called obedience school so that we can learn fun new tricks together!
Sometimes I like to snuggle, but mostly I like to play, especially fetch! As a typical lab, I like to wag my tail and wiggle a lot. My powerful tail and my focus during fetch means that I could easily knock over a human toddler. I get along great with my furry foster brother. We like to play together. I’m not sure about cats though since I haven’t really seen one up close.
Right now they tell me that I am on medical hold before I can go home with my forever family. You see, whoever was taking care of me before forgot to give me heartworm preventative, so I got heartworm disease. Thankfully, the people at the shelter found out before I was showing any symptoms of heartworm disease. I finished my treatments like a trooper and in a few months the veterinarian can do a test to make sure they are all gone.
If you are looking for a labbie lab, you like to play fetch, and you want an awesome new best friend for many many many years, then I’d love to join your family!
